Setting Up a Multilingual Agent
This video provides instructions on configuring a multilingual AI agent to handle inbound or outbound calls in various languages such as Spanish, German, Hindi, Portuguese, French, Dutch, etc.
Step 1: Select a Multilingual Voice
In the agent configuration screen, you'll find the first set of voice options.
Scroll through the carousel using the right arrow until you reach the multilingual voices.
Listen to the voice previews and choose a voice that suits your needs, like Troy or Margarita.
Step 2: Choose a Language
After selecting a voice, specify the language you want the agent to speak. For instance, if you choose Margarita, you can select Spanish from the dropdown.
This selection tells the AI to listen to and expect conversations in that language.
Step 3: Create the Agent Prompt
In the Selected Language: You can write the entire prompt directly in the selected language. For instance, if it's in Spanish, write everything in Spanish.
In English with Language Instruction: Alternatively, you can write the prompt in English but clearly instruct the AI to respond in the desired language by adding "Speak only in [Language]" at the beginning or end of the prompt. This will ensure the AI understands the expectation.
Important Considerations
Language Detection: It's crucial to specify the language because the AI may struggle to automatically detect and adapt without prior instruction.
Consistency: The prompt language must align with the language selected for listening and speaking to ensure a smooth, multilingual conversation flow.
By following these steps, you'll be able to effectively set up a multilingual agent that understands and responds fluently in your chosen language, enhancing your global communication strategy.
